The drawing for a chance to win this quilt will be done at the Showcase of Quilts, January 24, 2015.  This Quilting Guild of The Villages quilt show will be held at the Savannah Center, January 23-24, 2015.  Check out the Showcase of Quilts page on this website for more information about the Quilting in Paradise quilt show as it becomes available.  Meanwhile, be sure to mark your calendars for this special event!
Attention all Guild members!
The start-time for evening Guild meetings has been moved to 6:30 p.m. to allow time for members to view Show-n-Tell quilts.  These will be displayed on tables along the far wall.  Along with being able to see these up-close, in most cases you will get a chance to talk to the showing-quilter.

Quilting grows your brainpower . . . it is a progressively challenging activity.  LOL, isn't that quilting in a nutshell?  We all know our lives started simple but now it appears that science proves what we've all known for some time:  quilting is good for our brains.  The front page of the Lifestyles section of the The Daily Sun (June 22, 2014) has an article by Tatiana Quiroga that touts the advantages of learning a second language ("Build up you brain power") but now quilting and photography need to be added to the mix.  Elizabeth O'Brien's "Talking Well" column in a recent MarketWatch article reported on a study conducted by Dr. Denise C. Park (who received her Ph.D. from my home town's State University of New York at Albany!) has a list of credentials that befit her position as Co-Director of the Center for Vital Longevity at the University of Texas at Dallas.  Her recent research shows the positive benefits of stimulating rather than frustrating common activities and the big winners were quilting and photography.  Yes!!  Check out the full article at:
